No No Poo

Back in February (wow, was it that long ago?) I started No Poo. Which is, in a sentence, swapping out your shampoo for baking soda and your conditioner for apple cider vinegar. Sounds totally weird but was really amazing. It cleanses your hair and scalp of product build up and balances the PH of your scalp so you produce the correct amount of oil to condition your hair. It worked really well for me; it made my hair very soft and shiny, so I wrote an update a few weeks later here

During the summer I went really blonde and we all know that that can really do a number on your hair if you aren't taking care and using the right products.

I love being blonde. And I've never had any huge issues going light blonde, when I find the right products, but I knew that No Poo would have to go to the back-burner or I was in for some weak hair. When my hair is dryer than usual I have to do more deep conditioning.

It was pure luck, after my old run of the mill try everything I haven't tried yet game, that I stumbled across an organic and sulfate free, paraben free, gluten free, vegan and also sodium, chloride, salt, mea, dea and dye free, as well as free of preservatives (whew that's a lot) shampoo and conditioner with Argan oil.
It's a more expensive brand but I found it at TJ Maxx and we all know you never pay full price for anything (I'm a maxxinista!). Unfortunately I did not get paid for saying that. Nor did I get paid for writing this, though they should pay me! Because I'm in love with this shampoo and conditioner.

But regardless of what brand you use, if you are looking for something in the middle of the No Poo Movement and the average shampoo/conditioner combo, I really recommend you look for a sulfate free and paraben free cleanser and conditioner. It makes a world of difference.

No more stripped hair. Lots of natural oils instead of clunky waxes. My hair is so soft and feels great and that's saying a lot since it just went through another blonde-ing yesterday.

So. I wanted to give ya'll an update since I know a lot of people read about my No Poo experience.

As is always the case in life, I am constantly learning. I know I'll do No Poo again sometime in the future because it really worked for me. I still use baking soda mixed in with my shampoo occasionally (it's great for de-brassing blondes) so I recommend the process. And I also recommend a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner.
Natural is often the way to go.

Happy Hair Days!
