A Very Merry Christmas

"Morning Star, my soul's true light, tarry not, dispel my night.

Jesus mine, in me shine; in me shine, Jesus mine;

Fill my heart with light divine."

Holding little Piper at the Love Feast on Christmas Eve at the Moravian Church in Old Salem. When I was growing up we went to a Moravian Church and some of my favorite Christmas memories include the Christmas Eve service.

I love the songs and the candles and the celebration of Jesus' birth.

Our house Christmas morning.

After breakfast at Witt's parents we came home to mimosas and our stockings.

Afterwards we watched Christmas in Connecticut, one of my favorite Christmas movies.

A cherished tradition that goes back a long way to my grandfather's father is to make oyster stew on Christmas morning. Growing up I thought this was totally normal. And my favorite meal of the year.

For the first time, Witt and I made it ourselves. I missed seeing my Dad standing over the stove adding pepper and tasting, pepper and tasting. But it was fun to carry on the tradition with Witt. I felt like maybe I wasn't quite grown up enough to have the honor of making it for Christmas Morning. But I think we got it almost perfect.

We had a beautiful Christmas dinner at the Davises that evening.

This was the first Christmas morning we spent with Witt's parents. I enjoyed experiencing his family's traditions. I feel lucky to have gotten so much Christmas this year with so much family.

I hope your Christmas was filled with peace and joy!
