Abingdon, VA

In the book, The Low Blood Sugar Handbook, there are four "groups" that you are supposed to pay attention to when you are living with hypoglycemia. Food ethic, exercise, rest and relaxation and then fun and laughter. The first two are easy for me to understand and deal with, but the last two are less concrete. Life can be so busy that rest becomes just going to bed at night and trying to get enough sleep. And I want more fun and laughter in my life!

However, I'm finding that once I follow the food ethic that I talked about in the previous post and continue exercising, the other two come much more easily. It's easier to relax and find ways to rest during the day, even if it's just reading one of my favorite magazines while I'm waiting for the laundry or taking the time to do something creative that I love (and ignoring the dishes in the sink).

I'm so thankful for this past weekend because it was full of relaxation and fun. Witt and I spent the weekend in Abingdon, VA. Abingdon is a cute little town that you might miss if you drove through and blinked, but it's full of charm. I love the colonial feel of the buildings and the artsy venues to visit and the beautiful mountains. We went to the Abingdon Winery and ate at the Tavern downtown, built in the 1700's. I had the most delicious scallops. We both decided we would love to move to Virginia, up in the mountains, maybe sooner than later.

It was so refreshing to get away.
